The Five Senses-3

Our thematic unit on the five senses came to an end this week. We finished up with the sense of taste. I am so pleased with how much the kids have learned about their senses. They have been so comfortable exploring new words and expanding their vocabulary. I loved hearing them use these words during their free choice time. I heard a group of kids playing doctor and they said "I need to check your taste buds". I also heard " I'll use my sense of hearing to listen to the story". I love when I get to laugh to myself. When your child brings home their five senses book. Look at it together and talk about their senses. If your child's book didn't come home this week, look for it on Monday.

TASTE

We had a lot of fun this week guessing who's body part belong to who. Unfortunately we didn't play guess who's tongue. But we still had fun looking at the pictures. At the end of the blog look at the full pictures.

Taste Tests

Now that we learned about our taste buds and how they work. It's time to give them a workout.

First we tasted snacks. I thought for sure sweet would have the most votes. I was wrong.

Next we tasted fruits and vegetables.

I love their taste testing faces! I was surprised almost everyone tried everything. No votes for the onion.

Muffin Baking

Pouring, stirring, mixing and counting. All part of the baking fun. But the best part comes at the end. The yummy smell and the delicious taste!!!!

Five senses faces

As we talked about the five senses. the kids were told which body part to draw. They did a great job!

Sight (eyes), Smell (nose), Hear (ears), Taste (tongue) and the circle with the lines represents Touch (fingers).

These beautiful faces will become the cover of our 5 senses book. Look for these to come home soon.

Inside and outside fun

It's so nice to see these faces. Even if it was for a brief moment with a tongue sticking out.

Pre-K reminders and things to know.

Please check your child's backpack for school pictures if you ordered them. If you didn't get them today check on Monday.

As the weather is getting colder. We will still be spending time outside. Please make sure your child has a hat and mittens with them. If you have an extra set to stay at school that would be helpful. Please label all items that will be kept at school. If your child doesn't have snow pants or waterproof mittens. I would get a pair soon. The colder weather and snow will upon us soon. Mittens are the preferred choice over gloves. Gloves are difficult, frustrating and time consuming for the children to put on.

Next week Thanksgiving Break starts on Wednesday November 24th.

Use your five senses to enjoy your surroundings this weekend.
