Pre-K Feelings and More.

Children who learn how to understand emotions in themselves and others are better able to regulate their own responses to strong emotions. Helping children to identify and label emotions is an important first step.

This week we read stories about emotions. We talked about how we were feeling. And how we think other friends are feeling.

Outdoor Play

Children need to remain active throughout the day; promoting outdoor play allows them to get fresh air and explore their environment more. Hands-on learning, the natural environment and loose parts in the outdoors stimulate children’s senses through what they hear, touch, see and feel

This week Pre-K had fun outside digging for bugs, counting rocks and having fun playing together.

Fine motor activities

In Pre-K we work a lot on developing fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are those that involve a refined use of the small muscles which control the hand, fingers and thumb. With the development of these skills, a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing, feeding oneself, buttoning and zippering. Little hands need to develop dexterity and strength.

Pre-K had fun collaging the initial of their name.

After collaging the letters. We played a game with the letters.

Easel Painting

Every day the children will have the opportunity to paint at the easel. Preschoolers need to work both vertical and fine motor skills. A vertical surface allows children to to stand while working. A larger area to work allows them to use larger movements to paint. They can develop more control over their marks they make and learn to control the brush to get the shapes they want.
