Author studies are great because if you are choosing books by an author your child already likes, they will probably discover more favorite books. You are encouraging a deeper connection attachment to reading. By discussing and comparing the books. You build critical thinking skills. At the very least you are reading and learning an author and illustrators name.

Zoo - Phonics
This week. We introduced a program called Zoo - phonics.
What is Zoo - phonics is a method developed to make children strong readers and spellers using a "phono" (hearing), "oral" (speaking), "visual" (seeing), "Kinesthetic" (moving), and tactile (touching) whole brain approach.
Zoo - phonics uses animals in the shapes of lower cases letters. The animals help the children remember the shapes and sounds of the letters.
This week we learned Allie Alligator and Bubba Bear. Ask your children what sounds they make.

Welcome Emma. We were all very excited to have our new friend Emma join class this week.

I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to zoom in with me for your parent teacher conference. I throughly enjoyed talking to all of you. We are so lucky to have this amazing class. It puts a smile on my face everyday.
