Holiday Happenings

Our week started out with a focus on Hanukkah and Christmas We discussed similarities and differences between the holidays. We shared family traditions. We talked about decorations, food, songs and of course presents.

Hanukkah

We learned about the festival of lights. We made candle holders called menorahs. We counted the candles and placed them in order 1-8. We read a story that taught us about how families celebrate Hanukkah.

Thank you Eva and family for bringing in a yummy Hanukkah treat.

Christmas

We read a story called Dream Snow. The story is about a farmer who falls asleep and wakes to find out it had snowed. He realizes it's Christmas and he quickly decorates his tree.

This story is beautifully illustrated, includes secret pages and plays a special sound at the end. A must read for all.

We all enjoyed a Christmas tree bingo game. A number game and an art project all in one.

Gingerbread Fun

Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me. I'm the gingerbread friend. The pre-k chefs were at it one last time in 2020. We baked, decorated and of course ate gingerbread friend cookies. Ask your children (if they haven't already told you) about our gingerbread friend adventure.

Here we are decorating our own giant gingerbread friends. We then recreated the story of the gingerbread man. You can see the amazing theatrical performance on the Pre-k facebook page.

Holiday Class Pajama Party

Just in case we didn't have enough candy and sprinkles this week. We put our artistic skills into decorating gingerbread houses.

After a not so hard vote. Ice cream was chosen as the treat of choice. And of course sprinkles were included.

Pajamas, Popcorn and a Movie. I thought they would never want to go home.

Snow

What a surprise. We went out for recess and to our surprise there was snow. You would have thought there was a foot of snow by the look on their faces. We decided to draw in the snow with noodles.

Fun, Fun and more fun.

As they say. A picture's worth a thousand words. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays to all. And to all a goodnight.

As we say goodbye to 2020. I would like to take a moment to reflect on this year. What started out as pretty much a normal start to a new year. Quickly took a huge change.

No one knew what to expect. With so many rules and regulations now in place. It was overwhelming. Who would ever think that your children who were 2 and 3 years old when this came into their lives. Would handle this pandemic like rock stars. I am overly impressed with their knowledge, understanding and compassion of what is happening. I owe it all to you, the parents. Thank you for allowing and trusting me to be a part of your child's life during these most precious years.

Here's to an amazing 2021. I hope everyone enjoys winter break. Stay healthy, cozy, and warm. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.

Karen ( Mrs. Dinelli ) :)
