Hibernation Station

This week our winter theme was all about hibernation. We talked about what happens to bears, birds, snakes, owls, lizards, insects and more living creatures in the winter. I think the big take away from this was you have to eat a lot before you hibernate. So you could sleep all through the winter.

As you can see the kids became bears and found various places to load up with food and hibernate.

Pre-K had a lot of fun building and finding spaces for animals to hibernate.

Bear Caves

Paper tearing is a great fine motor activity. The kids tore pieces of construction paper and crepe paper to create these cozy bear caves for the bears to hibernate.

Hibernating Snakes

These tiny fingers are getting so strong. Don't take for granted how hard it is to get a string through a noodle. These snakes in a log are ready for a long winter nap.

Do you hibernate?

Our classroom has an abundance of cozy animals. The kids picked an animal from the classroom and we all guessed if they hibernate or not. We checked our guess by looking the answer up on the ipad. The kids were filled with excitement as we waited to see the answer.

Hibernation bingo

Everyone took home the game board so they could share with families which animals hibernate.

Show and Tell

Everyone is becoming much more vocal in sharing their show and tell.

Can you find your name in the snow?

Friday snow day!!!!

The last 3 weeks have been so much fun. The thematic unit on winter is one of my favorites. I hope everyone enjoys all the projects that came home today. I'm sure your children can tell you something about each one. Next week we will be starting something new. Here's a hint. It's going to be really BIG. I mentioned it briefly to the class. I wonder if they remember.

A few extra pictures from the the last couple weeks.
