This week in Pre-k we started to become familiar with all the classroom components. We introduced our classrooms jobs. We continued to familiarize ourselves with our staying safe and healthy rules. We became more comfortable with leaving the classroom to go to the special classes. And we were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather we had with a lot of outdoor time.
I introduced the children to a new classroom "friend". Bluey bluebird. Bluey bluebird visits during class time to remind us the importance of wearing our mask. and other health and safety rules. Bluey bluebird is teaching us a few songs. I think a few more practices and your children will be ready to sing them at home.
CLASSROOM JOBS
This a great way to teach your child responsibilities, Sharing and taking turns.
When the children come in they check the board for their job.
Macie is helping with the calendar.
Lizzy is watering the plant
Aviv is counting how many friends at school.
Ivy is checking the weather.
Eva and Evander are cleaning of their snack mats.
RAINBOW WALL
The children are all very busy. Adding parts to their rainbow. They do this when we see they are being kind, sharing, good listening etc. When the rainbow is full they get to pick a prize to take home.
EASEL PAINTING
Every day the children will have the opportunity to paint at the easel. Preschoolers need to work both vertical and fine motor skills. A vertical surface allows children to to stand while working. A larger area to work allows them to use larger movements to paint. They can develop more control over their marks they make and learn to control the brush to get the shapes they want.
FINE MOTOR
In Pre-K we work a lot on developing fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are those that involve a refined use of the small muscles which control the hand, fingers and thumb. With the development of these skills, a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing, feeding oneself, buttoning and zippering. Little hands need to develop dexterity and strength.
Collage initials
Beaded Initials
We had a lot of fun learning our friends names and faces. Playing Friend Bingo.
OUTDOOR FUN
Playground fun. We love getting outside.
Art
This week we met Mr. Matt the art teacher. We colored our names in bubble letters and drew a picture for an activity for next week.
Library
We were so lucky to have library outside. We love Miss Hilda's Stories.
PE
We always have fun in PE. Coach has us do some relaxing to music. Before he gets us going.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
A great way to promote literacy. Is with the question of the day. I love to see what they answer.
I hope you have enjoyed a small sampling of our week. And these pictures make you smile. As much as I do when I'm with your child. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend.
