Fall leaves fall.

It’s that time of year again. The temperatures are changing, the wind is picking up and the air is getting cooler. What could be a better fall activity than Leaf Play? We all know how fun a day in the outdoor air can be, but did you know the sensory benefits that can be found from a romp in your best pile of leaves.

A huge leaf pile is a great place to develop visual motor skills by playing look and find games and scavenger hunts

While this week looked like we were just having fun. there are many sensory benefits from leaf play and exploring nature.

The tactile system is required for children to coordinate, organize, discriminate and interpret touch appropriatley. Leaf play is an excellent way for children to feel the various textures of smooth, rough, soft and crunchy.

Leaf play can be an excellent source of movement and activity that stimulates the sensory system. Jumping into the huge leaf piles, running into the leaves, and even throwing the leaves in the air, is not only fun and exciting, but also an extremely important part of developing your child’s sensory systems.

Painting Leaves.

During this activity we used our whole body to figure out how to move the balls around in the box to cover the leaf with paint. We also watched the mixing of colors. What a surprise to see how different everyones leaves looked.

Acorn Hunt

We all turned into little squirrels. Acorns every where. How many can we find. Let's count them together.

Look at all this corn.

Mrs. Dinelli took us on her trip to the cornfield. We learned about how the corn grows and the different parts of the plant. Please visit the Pre-k facebook page to watch the video again and again.

How tall is the corn? Anyone in Pre-k taller then the corn stalk? I don't think so.

How many friends will it take to be as long as the corn stalk?

Exploring the parts of the piece of corn.

Maybe these scarecrows will watch over the cornfield and keep them safe

Scarecrow fun.

Let's find the letters and colors on these silly scarecrows.

Popcorn fun.

We read this great story about popcorn. Followed by popcorn dancing and popping our own popcorn. And the grand finale. A popcorn picnic.

PE class with Coach Chanan.

Dance in your favorite color. For live action please checkout the Pre-k Facebook page.

Library with Miss Hilda.

We love picking out our own books.
