Dinosaurs (Part 2)

Painting Dinosaurs Process Art

The kiddos enjoyed this dinosaur activity for some seriously fun process art.

Journals

For journals this week the kiddos were asked to imagine what they would do if they saw a dinosaur!

Scissor Skills

Gripping scissors correctly is not always easy for little kids.  Getting scissors to open and close while holding a piece of paper in the other hand is definitely not easy. This week we practiced gripping scissors correctly and cutting straight lines from point A to point B. This required that the kiddos had to open and close the scissors multiple times per cut, which is much more difficult than snipping or fringing. Once the kiddos master cutting straight lines, zig zag lines are next! Zig zag lines are more difficult to cut because they require the child to turn the paper or their hand as they cut. Once the kiddos master zig zag lines, curved lines are next. These lines can be very tricky for young children to cut, it’s best to wait until they have developed the muscles in their hands to accomplish this challenging task.

Linking Disks

The kids had fun using their imagination and creativity to connect and build various objects and shapes using these STEM based cognitive learning linking disks.

STEM - Engineering Challenge

What can you create with craft sticks and clothespins?

Reading Buddies

Always a favorite activity for both the littles and the bigs!

Lunch

During lunch the kiddos are introduced to a diverse menu. They are encouraged to try at least one bite of everything on their tray. The kids have mastered asking for their own food and cleaning up after themselves. We practice good "restaurant manners" such as quiet voices, still bodies and saying "please" and "thank you."

This week the kiddos continued to work on their cardboard houses added various colors and designs.
